Happy new year everyone! We're back at training this Tuesday (10th Jan) at the usual place (Sugden Centre) and usual time (8pm). Come along to work off those mince pies and get rid of the old cobwebs - then we're heading to the pub for a catch up on how everyone's Christmas was!
If you've been off for a while, or are a complete beginner, then this is the perfect time to come down and ease back in or have a go!
See you all on Tuesday!
15 December 2011, 23:16
Well folks, that's it from us for 2011. Have a fantastic Christmas, and we'll see you again in the new year! Training starts back on 10 January 2012, but keep an eye on our Facebook

Fantastic effort from everyone who attended the grading yesterday! You've made us proud guys. Make sure you're down to training on Tuesday (13 December) as Sensei Orton will be giving out the new belts, and we'll have club photo! If you're injured and not training, make sure you bring your gi in for the photo.
9 December 2011, 12:37
It's grading time again! Best of luck to all Jitsuka attempting it! Kick ass, have fun and remember that you're going to collect your belts. The coach will leave at 10am from the Armitage Centre lower car park, so don't be late!
After the grading it's our end of term feast in Koh Samui! If you're not sure where it is, there's a map on the
Facebook event, so check it out.

It's nearly time for MMU to be back from summer holidays! Sessions start up again on Tuesday 20 September, and will again be 8:15pm - 10:15pm on
both Tuesdays and Thursdays. If you're unsure, check out our
calendar for the most up to date times.
Also, we're having our Freshers' Fair in the Sugden Centre on 21 and 22 September from 10am - 4pm. If any current members are free, please come down and help us to hand out fliers and get some lovely new members to train with. If you're interested in starting Jitsu this year, you can pop by and meet some of the committee and current members, and have a chance to ask any questions before getting on the mat.

Hola amigos!
Gracias!
24 July 2011, 10:56
We hope everyone's having an awesome summer!
We want to congratulate Sean Baxendale on doing such a great job of running the
University of Manchester's Jiu Jitsu club. If you'd like to go and train with him, don't forget that UoM are still training over summer.
See you soon!
22 June 2011, 17:10
It's our last session tomorrow so make sure you're down as it's not to be missed!
Although MMU are off until September, UOM sessions will still be happening, so if you're in Manchester make sure you pop down to those. They will mostly be in the Armitage Centre in Fallowfield, although there might be some changes to venue due to other bookings using the room. Keep an eye on the news, Facebook or the
calendar for the most up to date info.
Have a good summer!
22 May 2011, 13:24
The site is changing!
We're working on a new site at the moment, it won't look any different at first but it will be a LOT easier for your committees to administer, and hopefully make changes to.
However, for now there is a new
member section. This is for existing club members to add their details to the database so that they can receive emails from Manchester Jitsu. It will also allow you to provide us with your contact details so that we can get in touch if we need to (cancelled sessions, trip information, etc.)
If you have a mobile device, you can add your email address using the link at the bottom of each page. This will add your email address for confirmation. Unfortunately, at the moment you must confirm and add your details on the full site using a computer or tablet.
We'll keep working on the site and let you know about any changes.

MMU's last session of the term is this Thursday! If you're thinking of joining Jitsu, it's best to wait until after Easter (to make use of your two week introduction, rather than lose it). Our first session of next term is the 3rd of May.
Alternatively you can train with the University of Manchester over Easter - keep an eye on
http://manchesterjitsu.org/cal for their training times and venue.
Have a good Easter everyone!

Good luck to all our Jitsuka who are grading tomorrow!
If you're considering taking up Jitsu for yourself, next week is a great time to start because (hopefully) we'll have some budding freshly graded Jitsuka, keen to show off their new belts and do a bit of teaching!
Remember, your first session of Jiu Jitsu is ALWAYS free. Come to either of the Manchester clubs for a taster, and a two week trial before you have to commit to anything.
15 February 2011, 23:48
RegionalThe regional is on the 12th of March at the Sugden Centre.
Randori Nationals
Those who are going to the Randori Nationals, the cost is £15 course, £15 competition, £15 travel and accomodation. A total of £30 if you're not competing, £45 if you are. Don't forget, this Thursday is the last chance to pay!

New Year's Resolution: GET FIT; DO LOTS OF JITSU!
Oh yeah, it's here. 2011 is in full swing, and as of January 11th (2011), so are MMU.
MMU Jiu Jitsu recommences on that date, at the usual time for now (it might change, eyes peeled), in the usual place. Get your assets down and work off the Christmas fat!
12 December 2010, 10:38
Fantastic Grading Results!
Well done to all of MMU, who passed their grading with flying colours (literally, now that coloured belts must be exchanged!). We have a handful of new yellow belts, a new orange belt, a new green belt, a new light blue belt and four new dark blue belts!
If you're thinking of coming along to try Jiu Jitsu, there is no better time than now; what with all these grades to teach you!
To our Jitsuka: don't forget to come and train on Tuesday, as we'll be having a club photo taken by
Kristina Boneva.
10 December 2010, 21:40
Grading tomorrow, so good luck to all attending!
Note the change in coach departure times: we will either meet at the Sudgen Centre at 9am and make our way to Fallowfield, or we will meet in the Armitage centre by 9:35am. The coach will leave the Armitage at 9:40. If you're not there, we will leave without you. An email has been sent out with contact details in case you are running late, so please save the numbers in your phone.
7 December 2010, 16:02
Our grading is on its way!
Hi everyone, we just want to point out that this Saturday (December 11th) is our first grading of the year. This is a chance for everyone to progress to the next belt; it means that at the moment we're really focused on getting our students ready for it.
If you're planning on coming to your first session, it would be best if you wait until Tuesday the 14th (or Thursday 16th).
Hopefully we'll have a whole batch of grades for you to learn from! :-)
17 November 2010, 00:51
Instructor Course
On Saturday 20th of November, at 11:00 - 17:00 (latest) there is an instructor course in Preston. If you are a grade, please attend this! It is required to progress and they don't happen all the time.
They are very light hearted, about teaching you and not testing you!
The address of the centre is:
Preston Martial Arts Centre
Fylde Road
Preston
PR1 2XQ
A map to the centre can be
found here (it shows the Aikedo club, the training centre is the same).
26 September 2010, 23:32
Thank you to everyone who turned up to our introductory session on Saturday, and for those who helped at that and at Freshers' Fair! We had a great time and we hope to see as many of our newcomers on the mat as is possible! Don't worry if you missed the Saturday session because you can come to ANY session at all, throughout the year, to join the club. Your first session is always FREE, after that it's only 3 quid a time; and you have two weeks to try it before you have to join. See you on the mat soon!
14 September 2010, 19:30
Hi guys, the new website is in its final stage of testing. I've put almost everything on there (the public part anyway) and now I'm just waiting for errors to crop up!
Please have a browse through, committees can't yet upload photos but I will ask them to email them to me for the time being and I will upload them.
Let me know about problems by email: cjgoodwin@gmx.com or by clicking on the small white triangle in the top right corner and submitting feedback.

People, people,
Some news. Hoodies will, I promise, be arriving within days.
The Saturday session was great, thanks to all those who attended, I believe we have a few new members as a result.
As long as all goes well with the theory test, the club will have two new minibus drivers (myself (Jamie) and Vicki) who will be your dedicated, designated and hopefully not desecrated drivers for the barn weekend...
Which brings us around nicely to, the BARN WEEKEND!
It's back, for the second year running. The barn weekend is a trip, to a barn (which has been made habitable by some clever entrepreneur types), with lots of food, merriment, cheese eating and other such enjoyable activities.
All those who wish to attend, please email Simon ( fusil89@live.co.uk ) and bring in a small deposit of £10 (to Simon).
Other than that, continue training and don't forget (Green and above) to cram in extra training on Saturdays where possible. Saturday sessions return this...Saturday!

MMU Jiu Jitsu Free Taster Session!
This Saturday (23rd Jan) MMU Jiu Jitsu will run a free introductory session in the Sugden Centre (Activity Room 2). The session is for anyone who wishes to have a go at Jiu Jitsu before committing to joining a club, not only will you be able to watch high grades show off some of the fancy moves, but also have a go yourself!
Come along to the Sugden Centre at 12:30 to get stuck in! Hope to see you on the mat soon!

21 December 2009, 11:22
Hello ladies and gentlemen, may I offer a warm and, 'with intent', Jitsu merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night. As you might know, we had the last session of the year on Thursday just gone, it was terribly fun and everyone got to do some really cool throws...fantastic! Now, for those of you so heavily obsessed with Jiu Jitsu you do not believe you can go an entire three weeks without it, Sensei Allen is still running his training sessions with the University of Manchester's club. They will be training as follows:
Wed 6th Jan | 8 - 10 pm | Sugden Centre
Wed 13th Jan | 8 - 10 pm | Sugden Centre
Wed 20th Jan | 8 - 10 pm | Sugden Centre
Wed 27th Jan | 8 - 10 pm | Sugden Centre
Then from the 1st of February things go back to normal. MMU's training will begin again on the 12th of January, however we will have an 'extra' training session on Saturday 23rd of January, which will be used to introduce anyone who wants to join after visiting us at the 're-freshers' fayre. This will be explained in greater detail in the first few sessions.
If you still haven't collected your belt, make sure you get down to a session as soon as possible to pick it up, Sensei is now bringing everyone's belt to every session in case people come to get them. That's all for now folks, once again I wish you all a merry Christmas and a very happy new year, and I will see you on the mat in Jan.
Jamie x
21 December 2009, 01:31
Guys and gals, thanks to all for coming to the post grading christmas party! Thanks also to Simon, you did a damn good job organising it! It was fantastic! Congratulations to anyone who passed the grading, don't forget to swing by and pick up (and try out) your new belts tonight or Thursday. If you can find anyone above you who passed and wants to get rid of their belt then, by all means see if you can get it passed down. Otherwise you can buy them from Sensei. Don't forget, t-shirts are still available at 8 pounds each, they might be useful if you want to combine getting a christmas present with enticing someone to join Jitsu! This week sees the last of the first term's sessions so make sure you get down and enjoy the fun! See you all soon. Jim.
28 November 2009, 10:46
Ladies and Gentlemen, for those of you who are going, please don't forget the Nage No Kata course today at 1400 in the Sugden Sports Centre, Activity Room...One I think. Time: Sat 28th November, 2 - 4pm. Cost: £4. Location: Manchester Sugden Sports Centre. Lead instructor: Richard Goulding. VERY useful, i.e. pretty much vital for our Light Blue grading. T-Shirts are still on sale at £8, speak so Simon if you want one. Peace out. x
27 November 2009, 03:15
as the "fantastic" Goodwin has already said, well done to everyone who went to nationals regardless of whether you competed or not, and if you survived even better. I will add that our particularly jazzy Manchester Jitsu T-shirts have arrived and are pretty damn good. If you want one come see me(Si) with £8 at training and you can get one. (if you want one it would be best to get it sooner rather than later, to ensure you get the size you want before we run out) see you all soon, I love you all. Si.
16 November 2009, 07:33
Nationals was awesome! I hope and believe that everyone who went had a fantastic time, nobody is allowed to forget "Park Inn, Telford". I'm sure you'll all agree that it was a rather nice hotel, especially for the price. Sauna and steam room! Faantastic! Anyway, congratulations to all those who competed and did well. Commiserations to all those who didn't or who, like me, pulled out of the competition due to wimpy injuries ;-). In true English style, "it's the taking part that counts" 'ey guys? Don't forget Man Uni are selling AU tickets for thie Wednesday (18th November. Hence, they will NOT be running a training session on that day), I'm still fairly sure we're all very welcome to go, I think I shall be (essay/dissertation permitting). Ask James Elliot about it, his email address is james@manchesterjitsu.org. I will, as soon as is physically possible, be making some minor updates to the website. Updating headings and things like that. I'll put everything in a subfolder or subdomain (i.e. ...jitsu.org/new or new.manchesterjitsu.org respectively) so that I can have people look at it, vote, leave comments, etc. before it "goes live" so to speak. I'll send out an email when the deed is done. Adios amigos, Jamie x.
11 November 2009, 13:11
Nationals this weekend! Those who are going, please be at the Sugden Centre before 17:00 on Friday. We will load up then go and meet Man Uni and make like a whole forest of trees! Also, those of you who wish to attend Man Uni's AU night, I believe you are all welcome, contact James Elliot (his email address is over there >>>>>>) to enquire.
6 November 2009, 09:36
Thank you all ladies and gentlemen, the all Hallows Eve (Eve) party was awesome. Everybody had a cracking time, some more than others apparently! We must apologise for last night's session being cancelled, this was due to circumstances beyond everyone's control as Sensei Orton could not make it and couldn't find a replacement at short notice either, however fear not! If you have money for the Nationals we will be taking this on Tuesday, we will also be running an extra session at some point prior to the grading to catch up on stuff missed last night. If we do run an extra session it's likely that it will be a few hours long, a fantastic chance to get some extra practice in before the grading!
22 October 2009, 20:06
All Hallows' Eve (Eve) Party!
Ladies and gentlemen, a party is to take place on the eve of the eve of the day of all those hallows...or something like that, either way it's on Friday the 30th of October @ 8pm and will progress through the night until sun-up.
It is our first joint social of the year (with Manchester University Jitsu) so I hope you all make a damn good effort to attend, this is an excellent time to get to know their Jitsuka so that you'll feel more at home when you go and train with them :-).
It begins in Remedy in Fallowfield, which is 7/8 metres North of Sainsbury's in Fallowfield! If you can't find Sainsbury's even with the help of
this link (which will look funny in the email of this newsfeed, sorry), then speak to your committee and we will guide you in (to Fallowfield, dirty minstrels). DRESS UP like dead things, evil things, ghostly things, blood sucking things, voyeuristic things (if you think that'll frighten people), etc. It's a fancy dress night :-)
Any questions, pop 'em our way (Jamie, Jesse, Simon).
Love,
Your Committee.
19 October 2009, 15:42
"Ladies and gentlemen...peasants and...pheasants(?)"
no, no, no that just wont do! not on my watch.
anyway; the regionals went great. I hope everyone who came learned a lot (they almost certainly did) and that just as importantly they enjoyed themselves (5 hours of jiu jitsu...who couldnt love that?). I hope that we can expect more of same enthusiasm in future.
Hope you all enjoyed the meal as well as the rest of the night.
well done.
From Simon (MMU)

NEW WEBSITE UP AND RUNNING!
Yes yes, it's finally here, manchesterjitsu.org (where you are now) is on its very own server, not stuck on jitsu.udwebdesign.etc.etc. It lives! The site is constantly being updated so keep checking, we hope to add more features to it soon (maybe emailing out the news to peoples?). If you have any suggestions, use the form at the
bottom of the page to let the committees know (both or MMU preferably because it's being designed by me (Jamie) so if you email Uni of it'll take a while to get to me).

Freshers' fayre was outstanding, thanks for all your help and thanks to all those who signed up while we were there. The Saturday session was brilliant, everyone had a great time and everyone who came out afterwards had a brilliant time also! Thanks again to everyone who came and helped, and to all of the new guys who joined in Saturday night! We hope to see as many of you on the mats as possible, a.s.a.p.!
21 September 2009, 19:36
On Tuesday the 22nd and Thursday the 24th of September we will be running training at the earlier time of 19:15 - 21:15. These sessions will be used to practice and get back into shape a little for the demonstration session on Saturday 26th, it is not compulsory that you attend these sessions if you wish to help on Saturday, however they'll be bloody useful, and of course fun. Freshers' fayre runs on Wednesday and Thursday from 09:00, it will be discussed at the Tuesday session! All those wishing to help please, come to the session on Tuesday or email the committee (you can use the form at the bottom of the site). Saturday's intro session will run from 14:30 - 17:30 and we need as many people as possible to help us out, MMU/Uni of Jitsuka alike.
8 September 2009, 17:24
MMU Training times have been moved, they are now Tuesday's and Thursday's at 20:15 - 22:15. Unfortunately these timings cannot be changed. Apologies to all of you who might find this inconvenient. MMU Committee.
2 September 2009, 17:50
MMU training times HAVE CHANGED! New times are currently
20:15 - 22:15, however we are working on getting these adjusted to a slightly earlier time. Keep checking the news for updates.
20 August 2009, 18:51
Chaps and chappettes. New website is up and running in BETA testing mode. This means some things may not work and you're not allowed to tell me off if they don't, just point them out to me. You should be able to log in using the (cleverly) hidden log in bar at the top, those of you MMU will be able to add MMU news feeds, those of you UOM will be able to add UOM news feeds. Soon I will incorporate account options, change your password, things like that. Sadly summer's nearly over but at least that means we'll soon be back to regular training!! We're still in the Conference Room of the Armitage Centre but have a slight change to our training times;
Mondays remain 8:30pm - 10pm but Wednesdays are now 8:30pm - 10:30pm. If you're unsure, you can check our
calendar or
Facebook group for the most up to date times and venues.
Also, with the start of term comes Freshers' Week and we will be at the Athletics Union Sports Fair. We have a stall on the 2nd floor of the Students' Union on the 20th, 21st and 22nd of September from 10am - 4pm. If you're a current member and have some time free, please come down and help us spread the word to potential new members. Alternatively, if you're new to Jitsu and want a chance to chat to some current members, or our Sensei, then pop by and say hello!
19 June 2011, 16:13
Exams are over and summer is upon us. We're back to the Conference Room in the Armitage Centre as of tomorrow. Training will be on the same days but with a slight change in times: Mondays 8.45 - 10.15pm and Wednesdays 8 - 10pm.
We may move back to the Sugden Centre for August due to a corporate booking in the Armitage, but that is still to be confirmed. Once we know for sure, we'll update the news, the
calendar and
Facebook, so keep an eye on those.
Beginners are welcome as always!
29 May 2011, 13:15
We're having our End of Year Meal on Saturday 4 June! Elaine (our new Social Sec) has organised a meal for 7:30pm in Rice on Chester Street (just off Oxford Road opposite the BBC). Pre-orders are needed so check out the
menu here and let Elaine know A.S.A.P through
Facebook or at training. Also, please mark yourself as attending the Facebook
event so that you can see all the details and get any relevant updates!

Liverpool Jitsu are celebrating 20 years of Jitsu this Saturday (14 May) with special guest instructor Roland King, who set the club up all those years ago! The session is open to all, and will be from 12-5pm. There will also be a meal in the evening and drinks all round. For more info, check out the
Facebook event.
Also, don't forget that we're in the Sugden Centre until 15 June due to exams being held in our usual room. This means that both Monday and Wednesday sessions are from 8-10.15pm, so don't be late. Beginners are welcome as usual, just pop down 15 mins prior to the start as there's a form you need to fill in before the session.
21 April 2011, 00:04
On Monday 22 April, Monday 2 May and Monday 30 May UOM will have outdoor training sessions - weather permitting. Keep an eye on Facebook closer to each day to see if it will be on for sure. If you're coming down, wear loose, old clothes (NO gi) and don't forget sessions will be earlier at around 6pm.
From Wednesday 4 May, we will be moving to the Sugden centre due to exams. Sessions will be 8 - 10.15pm on both Monday and Wednesday. We will be returning to the Armitage on 20 June.
11 April 2011, 17:42
Easter is upon us but we are
training as usual, so if you're still in Manchester, make sure you come and say hi!
So that's Mondays 8.30 - 10pm and Wednesdays 8 - 10pm, except for the bank holidays (when the Armitage is closed). However, if the whether is good, we will be having our first outdoor session(s) of the year on those days so keep an eye on your emails/Facebook/the calendar for updates.
Also, we're moving to the Sugden in May for the exam period. There are still some details to sort out for this but we'll let you know everything as soon as possible, so keep an eye on all communications for this too.

Good luck to everyone grading tomorrow! Since it's happening in the Armitage Centre, there will be drinks straight afterwards in Wetherspoons in Fallowfield. The grading will finish at 3pm so if you're around, pop down for a pint and congratulate everyone on their new belts! Also, don't forget the meal in Zouk at 7pm (meeting in The Pub near the Sugden at 6.30pm).
New belts will be presented at training on Monday (4th) so make sure you're down for that, and we'll be taking some photos of training, as well as a club photo for everyone to show of their new colours! Most importantly though, we're having our AGM after training (in Wetherspoons) and need as many members as possible down since we'll be voting in next year's committee!
16 February 2011, 11:32
The Randori Nationals are happening next weekend 26 - 27 Feb. If you still have to pay, speak to Jonah a.s.a.p.
Our AU Social is on Wed 23 February. This means NO training session as we'll be selling tickets to raise money for the club, and going out afterwards. There will be free pizza and a possible drink for all those who help out. Check out the
Facebook event for more details.
The North West Regional will be on Saturday 12 March, so make sure you don't miss out on a fantastic opportunity to train with Jitsuka from all over the region, as well as learn from other Senseis. Everyone is welcome!
The Grading is on 2 April, so if you're thinking of going for it, make sure you attend both sessions as much as possible. Sensei will confirm who he thinks is ready closer to the time so be there to impress! For anyone who's been away, we're back to the Armitage - Mondays 8.30 - 10pm and Wednesdays 8 - 10pm. Don't be late!
17 January 2011, 09:02
We're starting our 2 weeks in the Sugden centre tonight (Monday 17 Jan), with both sessions running from 8.15 - 10.15 pm. Come along and say hi!

Training is back on as of yesterday, so come along and get rid of all your revision anguish... as well as those extra pounds after Christmas!
We are in the Armitage tomorrow (Wednesday), but for the 2 following weeks of exam period, we'll be in the Sugden Centre on Mondays and Wednesdays 8 - 10.15pm. If in doubt, check out http://manchesterjitsu.org/cal.
Beginners are very welcome, as always, and if you've been off for a while, now's a brilliant time to get back into it!12 December 2010, 10:48
Congratulations to everyone who passed the grading yesterday! An excellent effort from all who attended.
Don't forget our Christmas meal tonight (12 December) in La Tasca, Didsbury at 8pm.
Check Facebook for more details on where we're meeting etc.
We are having a club photo on THIS Monday (13 December). It's an opportunity for everyone to show off their new belts; for anyone who's been off to come back for the last 2 sessions of term and have some fun; and for any beginners to have a proper go at Jitsu without the pre-grading stress on the mat!
10 December 2010, 16:00
Grading tomorrow, so good luck to all attending!
Note the change in coach departure times: we will either meet at the Sudgen Centre at 9am and make our way to Fallowfield, or we will meet in the Armitage centre by 9:35am. The coach will leave the Armitage at 9:40. If you're not there, we will leave without you. An email has been sent out with contact details in case you are running late, so please save the numbers in your phone.
25 November 2010, 00:35
Yellow and above pre-grading session on Saturday December 4th!!
It'll be in the Sudgen Centre from 2pm - 4:15pm and will be run by Sensei Vince Lee. Cost £3.
The session is open to all grades (yellow and above) who are looking to brush up on their syllabus before the big day. Sensei Lee will be looking to blast through the syllabus, throw in some fun stuff and give any purples and above in attendance the kicking they so rightly deserve. If you have any specific requests, message him at vince@vincelee.net; otherwise, he will play it by ear.

Hi guys, the new website is in its final stage of testing. Almost everything on there (the public part anyway) has been updated and now we're just waiting for errors to crop up! So, apologies if glitches cause you to receive multiple emails or links don't work. Please have a browse through and let us know what you think; committees can't yet upload photos directly but some will be put up soon by other means. Let us know about problems by email: cjgoodwin@gmx.com or by clicking on the small white triangle in the top right corner and submitting feedback.
We're also updating our mailing list so please make sure you confirm your email address again or you will be removed. An email should have been sent out to you with a link.
Don't forget that Freshers week is upon us! So, we need your help!! If you're free, come down to the SU on Tuesday 21 Sept or Wednesday 22 Sept between 10am and 4pm. Your time will be repaid with gratitude, a free session (if you do half a day) and a free drink (if you do a full day or more)!
Finally, we are having a Fresher's Demo on Monday 27 September during normal training. Please come along and help us show off our fantastic skills to wow all the newbies!
See you on the mat soon!

FIRST AID COURSE HAS BEEN CANCELLED:
Hi Guys,
I've had to cancel the 1st Aid course as Aidan is no longer able to do it now. I've tried to see if I can get others to fill this slot but they've not been able to.
Please watch this space for an announcement of the next 1st Aid course, which will, hopefully, be in March. Sorry guys and please make sure you let your students know,
ReCo

A final reminder that the North West Regional course is tomorrow! It is being held at the Sugden Centre from 1-5pm, that is we will be on the mat at 1 so I expect to see you all in your gis by 12.45 in case we need to help move mats etc. Straight after we will be heading to Umami for food and then onwards for drinks so bring a change of clothes if necessary. In other news, the Randori nationals are coming up so if you want to come along, tell a committee member asap and if you've already put your name down then we need your pennies! And finally, the purple hoodies are finally here and can be collected at the regional if you let me know in advance or from training on Monday. Jen x

It is with a tear in my eye that I must inform you all of the retirement of Social Secretary James 'Jelly' Elliot. Jelly has served the club well for over a year and will be sorely missed (although he'll still be training - we can't get rid of him that easily!). However, Mr Jonny Beaumont has bravely stepped up to the position.
So, we're kicking off with Valentines Carnage this Saturday (13th) starting at Remedy at 8pm with sights set for cupids own, 5th Avenue. The theme is Jitsu Love, so just make sure you're looking smokin' smokin' hot and we'll storm the place with smiles all round!
See you at Remedy at 8 pm !!!
PS other news,
Tomorrow night Refreshers/beginners session, if you've been off and feared coming back, fear not, come and shake those cobwebs off tomorrow starting at 8 (as usual) , or if you have a friend who you think may enjoy Jitsu then bring them along, it will be the perfect opportunity to introduce them to Jitsu.
Saturday pre-carnage for greens and above at the Saturday session, 2 - 4 pm, Sugden Centre, well worth attending and drinks afterwards to warm us up for the evening!
Saturday 20th Feb, Regional course, Sugden Centre, 12 - 5 pm, no excuses not to be there!!
Sunday 28th Feb, First Aid course, aimed at higher grades but if you particularly want to do it please ask.
Weekend 6th/7th March - Randori Nationals, training both days in the morning and judo-style competitions in the afternoon. Not to be missed!
2 February 2010, 15:08

Tomorrow (Wed 3rd) we will be having a post exams reunion social after training - starting at Remedy as usual with the return of free chips! The club will also be running a beginners/refreshers session next week on Wed 10th Feb instead of the usual training. If you are thinking of trying out Jitsu or want to get back into training then this is the perfect opportunity for you! The session will be in the conference room of the Armitage Centre, 8-10pm, although please turn up 15 minutes early if possible to fill out some forms. If you don't have a gi, please wear loose fitting clothing such as tracksuit trousers and an old tshirt. I hope to see you all on the mat soon, Jen

Hey, Xmas party time! The Christmas meal is going to be at Varsity opposite Whitworth Park at 8pm on Tuesday 15th December. I will be sending out lots of emails out and talking to people about this at training. Hope to see you all there! Jelly ps. thankyou for all help for selling AU tickets.. we sold out!
11 November 2009, 12:34
On the 18th November, that's the first Wednesday after the Nationals, its Jiu Jitsu's turn to sell AU tickets!
This is our club's main opportunity to make money for all future equipment needs, i.e. mats, weapons etc. So I plan for us all to go on an all out offensive to sell as many tickets as possible! **This means no training on the 18th November**
Also we are going to the AU night at Colliseum after to cause havok and mayhem! :-)
Ideas are welcome, but I suggest we all go dressed in fancy dress so we stand out and look awesome!
Get in touch, we will be selling tickets from about 11am onwards in the SU so help for any time you can..or indeed stay with us lovely people for all the 14 hours!! My email is jamese51113@hotmail.co.uk
Also, if you are in halls and think you can sell tickets to people in your flat/block or know people on your course who would want tickets PLEASE let us know. We'll have the tickets from the previous Thursday so can work out times to come round to your halls etc.
Jelly

THE HALLOWEEN PARTY!!!
Date: Friday, 30th October 2009
Time: 8pm til sun goes up...
Starting venue: Remedy, Fallowfield (Just right next to Sainsburys in Fallowfield. Then we'll move on to different bars for more frisky fun! Not 42s... probably 5th Avenue but keep an eye out on the Facebook group for confirmation)
It's the first joint social of the year with the Man Met Jitsu Club and since it's Halloween, everyone is expected to dress up. Come as whatever you want, the more daring/frightening the better! (maybe prizes for best dress)
Naturally there will be consequences for anyone not dressed up! :P
Be there or be scared!!
16 October 2009, 20:47
Ladies and gentlemen...peasants and...pheasants(?)...an epic tale is about to unfold...a battle of skill, determination and wit (the Jitsu regional...?), followed by a night of hearty, haughty and naughty celebrations (the afterparty!). Regionals, Armitage Centre, 11:00. Aftermath,
Shahenshah, 18:00. Bringeth with thee some alcohol (to Shahenshah not the regionals!)
1 October 2009, 16:44
We're having our Fresher's Social on Saturday the 3rd of October!!
The evening will start in the Friendship Inn at 8pm, then we'll probably be heading to Baabar for several drinks and to some other bars before hitting a club either in Fallowfield or in town. It all depends on where you guys fancy going!
So bring your party hats and drinking games, and we'll see you on Saturday!!
29 September 2009, 11:41
Thanks to everyone who came down to our demo session yesterday - I didn't think we could fit than many people on our mat! If you were there to try out jitsu for the first time then I hope you had a good time and will be back for more and massive thanks to all the current members for helping out. Also, apologies for the cock-up afterwards with Baa Bar - you'd think they would realise that a sports team coming for drinks after training might be in trackie bottoms! If you missed out on your free drink talk to James our social sec at your next session and we'll sort something out!
14 September 2009, 20:30
So we've started back to our usual training times and place, the Armitage centre and we hope to see you on the mat soon!!
Also we could do with your help with welcoming the fresher's at the fresher's fair, telling them why we all love Jitsu so much! We're part of the sport's freshers fair, first floor of the student union
Tuesday 22nd September 10 am - 4 pm
Wednesday 23rd September 10 am - 4 pm
If you are free to help then please message one of the committee members (there may be a free session in it for you...)
8 September 2009, 14:42
Guys, here are the links to the files you need. 7-Zip is a program and you will need to install it if you cannot open .zip files, it's free and legal. Edits.zip is a folder containing around 14 versions of a poster for you to check out. Let me know (by email) what you think (and of this website if there's anything important there). Jamie

Soon I will incorporate account options, change your password, things like that.
